A Note from Toni:

Welcome, I am glad you are here!  Whether your searching for answers, seeking relief, or trying to find meaning in your life, I am here to help.  Seasons of Life Therapy Services was created with the intent to help you uncover your sense of solace, peace, and purpose in the ever-changing, chaotic world that surrounds you.  I am passionate about families- at every stage and age.  From young adulthood, to preconception challenges, to perinatal and postpartum transitions, to parenting your child with emotional or behavioral struggles, your family is my priority.

Toni A. Nicolsen is  a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of North Carolina.  In addition to training in emotional and behavioral health, a marriage and family therapist has the unique skill set to aid in your growth and healing by encouraging your basic human need of relationship building and connection.

  • Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy from Pfeiffer University
  • Certified facilitator of Prepare/Enrich pre-marital therapy assessment

Every season of life comes with its own unique set of joys and challenges.

Somewhere in between launching into life on your own and leaving your family of origin, and before you settle down into relationships and family-building, don’t forget to find yourself.  Toni works with those in young adulthood who are facing the challenges of career decisions, societal expectations, and striking the balance of creating your identity, while fulfilling the expectation of finding your life partner. Adulting isn’t easy- and there was no class for that in college! While this stage of life is invigorating, it may also be filled with uncertainty, self-doubt, and anxiety.

Toni specializes in working with concerns surrounding infertility, and spent the majority of her graduate experience working under the supervision of Pamela Richey, RN, LMFT, an experienced infertility therapist with 20+ years of practice.  Toni works with women and men that are experiencing the relational, emotional, and physical losses associated with infertility.  In addition, Toni collaborates with well-known fertility clinics in the Triangle and is uniquely qualified to help single parents and couples navigate potential options for family building, such as the use of IVF, third-party reproduction, and child-free living.

Toni also has experience working with perinatal and postpartum anxiety, pregnancy loss, and parenting transitions.  Particularly for those who have experienced the grueling struggle of infertility and fertility treatment, once the goal of pregnancy is achieved, the anxiety of remaining pregnant often sets in.  Perinatal and postpartum anxiety is uniquely different from any other anxiety you may have endured.  It won’t last forever, and help is here.

Once you have the family you have long desired, the stress of parenting your growing child may sometimes be too big to bear alone.  After working under the supervision of a registered play therapist, Toni is well-versed and qualified to work with children ages 5-12 regarding a variety of concerns.  Using a family approach to child therapy, Toni includes parents and caregivers through frequent check-ins and parent-skills training.

Toni believes the key to successful therapy is a collaborative relationship of respect, trust, and authenticity.  Toni aims to help clients meet their therapeutic goals through increased awareness and acceptance, and hopes to help clients continue through life cultivating an internal peace that can be brought into the world.
